The recollections and thoughts of this extraordinary man - Steven Minikes - tell a story that leaps from the ordinary. Within this book is a story of endurance of fear, loneliness, insecurity, physical and emotional struggles, and other challenges imposed on the human experience.
Yet beyond endure, Ambassador Minikes swatted down all of this to achieve exceptionalism in scholarship, in business, and in service to his beloved adopted country. Notably, he battled his terminal illness with bravery, tenacity and optimism that I have only rarely witnessed, despite over 35 years of treating cancer patients. His exit from the stage of life was an apogee of dignity and pride.
Few individuals have as rich a trove of memories as are related in this autobiographical endeavor - his family and friends will be immeasurably richer for him having undertaken it.
